We now have confirmed results for our A and B Mixed teams. A heartfelt thanks to all the team member’s efforts and turning out when needed, and a special thank you to Rhona for all the hard work she has put into the selection process and match scheduling.

The A team came pretty close to promotion in Division 2 but were pipped by Canterbury C. It was great that we did so well after demotion from Division 1 last year.  Unfortunately, the B team ended bottom of Division 2, but Rhona and Barry both felt that our main effort should be to ensure that the A team had the strongest players in order not to be demoted further.

It was not all was doom and gloom however, as the B team only failed to win a set against the A team, and there were three other matches where there were some quite close rubbers.

The men topped their division which is a fantastic result having come so close last season. Hugh would like to offer many thanks to all who played their part and subject to achieving promotion we look forward to tougher tests next year in Division 2.

The final Mixed Teams table is as follows:

Mixed Div 2  Sets for Sets against Difference
Canterbury C 46 18 28
Bridge A 39 24 14
Hythe A 37 27 10
Sandwich 25 39 -14
Bridge B 13 51 -38

The final Men’s table is as follows:

Men’s Div 3 Sets for Sets against Difference
Bridge 26 22 4
Chilham 25 23 2
Herne Bay B 24 24 0
Sellindge 21 27 -6

Promotion and demotion places will ultimately depend on decisions taken at the League AGM in February, 2016. The aim is to equalise the number of teams in each division in order to ensure, wherever possible, that each team has the same timescale to complete its fixtures. This exercise is sometimes affected by new teams entering the League, and existing teams either withdrawing altogether or reducing the numbers of their teams.
