Bridge Tennis Club’s young development squad ended their first season with a really encouraging performance at the Kent Championships at Bromley. At the start of 2016 I formed a tennis pathway scheme, selecting 5 younger players who were demonstrating the determination and passion to succeed. A programme was built and despite some players having not played competitively until earlier this year, all have developed at a fantastic pace and their good showing at the Kent Championships was evidence of their progression:

In the 8U Girls, Sadie Bristow won her qualifying event and only lost in the quarter finals of the main draw and finishing 4th overall in the competition.

In the 9U Boys category Joel Murray and Jake Wilson both got into the qualifying event. In a very competitive field, both players fought hard with Jake battling into the main draw. Winning his first match, he eventually lost in the last 16 to a player ranked 3 in Kent. Another player, Arthur Adutt, could not make the Kent Championships but has been playing great in events across the region.

In the 10U Boys category, Jadon Pereira came through qualification and into the last 32 main draw. He narrowly lost but then came 3rd in the consolation draw.

The recent success has led to the sponsorship of the squad by Charles Bainbridge Estate Agents and the club acknowledged their achievements with a presentation at their annual tournament on Saturday.
